TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

Jeremiah 1:4-8 (ESV) 4 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”

Jeremiah 1:5-8 (MSG)  “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you.” But I said, “Hold it, Master God! Look at me. I don’t know anything. I’m only a boy!” 7-8 God told me, “Don’t say, ‘I’m only a boy.’  I’ll tell you where to go and you’ll go there. I’ll tell you what to say and you’ll say it. Don’t be afraid of a soul. I’ll be right there, looking after you.”

For many years I have labeled my writings:  "Sharecropper's Inheritance." So I thought it time to share some of my thoughts, cogitations, favorite writings and quotes for anyone who is interested in reading a 76 year old Christian's ruminations  about life.

Early on in my ministry, Becky, my wife, 'counted cross stitched' this phrase:  "TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE." I still have it.  But the import of its meaning did not become a reality until September 27, 2024, just a few weeks before this post, when I had a heart attack and emergency surgery to save my life.  Now I am recovering and doing well under the circumstances, but I am also recovering from the avoidance of the realization that life is terminal, and each day is truly a gift of God.  It would have been His grace and mercy that would and will receive me into Heaven, but it was His will  through His grace and mercy that He has lengthen my life so that I would continue to follow His will while still part of His earthly creation.

So part of His will is to share with those of you who might find it interesting tidbits of thought that hopefully will encourage you to think about your life and faith with your relationship to God the Father, through Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirt.

So for those of you who are interested in this, welcome.  I intend to write about once a week, and hope and pray that what I express, will inspire you as it has me.
